I think a lot of us forget (myself included) that success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. It is not defined by achieving status, money, or beauty. Success is simply the act of accomplishing something you set out to do - meaning that feeling successful shouldn’t be reserved for specific and societally accepted moments. We should celebrate our big and small victories with the utmost pride in ourselves. So when that time comes to applaud yourself, I’d recommend Wind Cries Mary for an experience as grand as your success.
🐚 Food
My favourite drink lately has been the Esquimalt Rosso Sweet Vermouth with sparkling water and lots of ice. So when I stumbled upon Wind Cries Mary a couple of weeks ago I asked if they carried any of their vermouth and sure enough they did. The waitress recommended that I have their classic martini with the Esquimalt vermouth: refreshing, nonetheless. After our first round of cocktails, it was time for dinner. Our group opted for the family-style menu. This had us starting with a much-needed round of oysters followed by the Potato and Brussels salad. For our entrees, we chose the Cacio e Pepe, the Pork Belly with Scallops as well as the Fried Chicken, concluding our night off with the Apple Cinnamon Cake. Every single bite, sip, and taste at Wind Cries Mary had an overarching theme of success. I felt fueled by each item on the menu to take on the next big thing. I would describe the food as so good it celebrates itself and motivates the rest of us to do the same.
🐚 Mood
Located in the heart of downtown Victoria, Wind Cries Mary sits beautifully on the corner of Bastion Square. Making you feel like you have been transported to some street in Europe. The space holds two patios, one in the back and one out front - which I lucked out to be seated at. If you are going to make a reservation then I'd recommend sitting on the patio in the back for the most striking experience. Inside the
restaurant, the decor is charming, well-presented and proud. The staff were well educated on the menu and delighted to share where each local ingredient originated from. Their ambience hummed triumphantly without pretentiousness reflecting their success in delivering the right tone to everyone and anyone who walks in. A space you can most certainly feel accomplished to have chosen.
Wind Cries Mary is the place to be when you are feeling successful. Whether you want to commemorate or relax, it’ll support every sense of grandeur you possess. You’ll leave dinner flourishing for the next thing life offers you, I promise.
