🕊️ Feeling Overwhelmed?

So many things require our attention nowadays that it is so easy to allow yourself to get stretched out in too many directions. That’s why I think one of our responsibilities as we “grow up” is to find ways to gently guide ourselves back to balance. Entering Pidgin - nestled in Vancouver’s Gastown, was exactly this for me. A way back to balance as this restaurant thoughtfully takes the chaos of bold flavours, and intricate combinations and transforms it into something harmonious. Pidgin isn’t here to add to your overwhelm; it’s here to ease it.

So many things require our attention nowadays that it is so easy to allow yourself to get stretched out in too many directions. This post is a tad late - I have been busy setting myself up to have another great year. Sorry not sorry 🌀

Now that I am here I wanted to take a moment to reflect on GRUBZ and its first lap. This outlet of mine has given me so much over the past year that it’s pretty crazy to think that it’s just a blog. I have completely restarted in some sense or another and always felt reflected through GRUBZ. I set out to do this to create, have fun and enjoy my passion for food - I continue to set that intention. So grateful for all of this energy & those who think what I am doing here is cool. Love you GRUBZ & my grubbies <3

As in all cities, every neighborhood tends to offer both go-to spots and some hidden gems you’ve yet to discover. For this review, my neighborhood was Commercial Drive, and the yet-to-be-discovered gem was Collective Goods. Nestled away, this restaurant invites you into a world where French chic meets substance—offering a dining experience that’s as warm as it is refined. From its artfully composed dishes to its serene ambiance, Collective Goods is a place to have a graceful dining experience.

So when I come across places that offer some spirit, I get excited to bank them for the inevitable dreary times. Thankfully, The Lunch Lady provides just that - an experience that radiates vibrant energy and good food, transporting you to a charming place where gloomy November can be forgotten.

🦢 I received some advice earlier this year that changed my perspective on how I have been perceiving my life. Said advice was that I needed to stop taking myself so seriously because, in the end, we need to make sure to enjoy the lives we live. Above all, I needed to learn how to surrender my expectations and learn how to have fun with the process. At this point, you may be wondering what relevance this personal anecdote has to do with a restaurant review. Well, restaurants tend to take things very seriously, and remaining playful while running a kitchen is easier said than done. Luckily for us, New Fuji figured out how to do just that - emulating the importance of playfulness from the moment you walk through their doors.
